Many of the earliest signs of aging occur around our eyes and forehead.
Typically people will notice excessive horizontal forehead lines, drooping of their eyebrows, or fullness of their upper lids. A brow lift is a wonderful way to freshen and soften the facial appearance and is successfully performed on both men and women, generally sometime after age 35.
About the procedure
Dr. Carr makes small incisions along the hairline or within the scalp to reposition the brow, modify underlying muscles, smooth the forehead, raise the upper eyelids and minimize frown lines. He typically uses an endoscope, which allows him to achieve amazing results without the extensive incisions found with the more traditional coronal browlift procedure. This procedure takes two to three hours under light general anaesthesia in our private surgical facility. You will be able to go home afterwards and recuperate in the comfort of your own home.
What to expect during recovery
You will have some bruising and swelling around the eyes for several days, a discomfort easily controlled with medication. Sutures or staples are removed about a week after surgery and swelling will diminish within one to three weeks. Most patients resume normal activities within seven to ten days. However, it is recommended that you avoid exercise, lifting, bending over and straining for at least two weeks. Some individuals may also experience limited scalp numbness which generally recovers after a period of a few weeks.
What you’ll look like afterwards
Your forehead will appear smooth while your eyebrows look youthfully arched and raised. Meanwhile, your eyes will look less tired and more “opened-up.” The entire upper portion of your face will look more rested, youthful in appearance. Thanks to the endoscopic browlift, all scalp incisions will be small and virtually unnoticeable!
